Exhorting words

I listened to an audio podcast from Slice of Laodecia and found it VERY encouraging. So I want to encourage anyone who has been contending for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints to please take the time to listen to it…I believe it was an EXCELLENT word of exhortment to guard against distracting people who want to draw our fire to them and wear us out…Anyway check it out here

Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Jason Beghe and Scientology

“Tom Cruise lauds power of Scientology in Web video”

By Michelle Nichols (Reuters, January 16, 2008)

New York, USA – A video of actor Tom Cruise touting himself and fellow Scientologists as “authorities on the mind” has appeared on the Internet, coinciding with a new biography that examines his role in the movement.

The origin of the footage, which the Church of Scientology said was a video shown at a 2004 International Association of Scientologists meeting, was not clear. It popped up on several Web sites and some took it down after copyright claims by the church.

Cruise, shown wearing a black turtleneck sweater and speaking while the musical theme to his hit movie “Mission: Impossible” played in the background, said he was dedicated to changing people’s lives.

“It’s a privilege to call yourself a Scientologist and it’s something that you have to earn,” he said.

“We’re the authorities on getting people off drugs. We’re the authorities on the mind. We’re the authorities on improving conditions,” he says. “We can rehabilitate criminals. Way to happiness. We can bring peace and unite cultures.”

In the video, which could be seen on http://www.gawker.com, Cruise explained what made Scientologists different from others.

“Being a Scientologist, when you drive past an accident it’s not like anyone else. As you drive past you know you have to do something about it because you know you’re the only one who can help,” the Oscar-nominated actor said.

Cruise is one of the best-known Scientologists. The movement has a following among some Hollywood celebrities but is condemned as a cult in some quarters, including by the German government.

Cruise’s ties to Scientology, and his outspoken adherence to its rejection of psychiatry, have frequently drawn attention. In June 2005 he publicly attacked actress Brooke Shields for revealing that she had taken medication as treatment for postpartum depression.

In a subsequent appearance on NBC’s “Today” show, Cruise called psychiatry a “pseudo science” and told interviewer Matt Lauer: “You don’t know the history of psychiatry. I do.”

The Church of Scientology said in a statement that the video was Cruise’s acceptance speech after he was awarded the religion’s “Freedom Medal.” It was shown to 5,000 church parishioners and guests.

“While the video can be seen in any Church of Scientology, what has appeared on the Internet is a pirated and edited version of a 3-hour event,” the church said.

The Internet site Gawker.com said the video had “been passed around privately by reporters and writers investigating Cruise’s ties to Scientology,” which was founded more than 50 years ago in Los Angeles by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.

On Tuesday, in a 15-page statement posted on the NBC “Today” show Web site, the church disputed claims made in the book “Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography” by British author Andrew Morton.

“Insinuations that Mr. Cruise is second-in-command of the Church are not only false, they are ludicrous,” the statement said. “He is neither 2nd or 100th. Mr Cruise is a Scientology parishioner and holds no official or unofficial position.”

Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, has described material in the book to Reuters as “outrageous, sick stuff” and said that it “is actionable,” although he declined to comment on legal issues.

He slammed what he called a “sick comparison of (Cruise’s) child to ‘Rosemary’s Baby'” as a “grotesque lie.” Morton wrote that some Scientologists wondered if Cruise’s wife, actress Katie Holmes, “had been impregnated with Hubbard’s frozen sperm.”

But Morton, also author of a 1992 book on Britain’s Princess Diana, told Reuters on Tuesday that Cruise was “a very important figure inside the church, it’s nonsense for them to say he’s just a parishioner.”

According to http://www.scientology.org, Scientology “is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths.” Those truths include man being an immortal, spiritual being whose experience “extends well beyond a single lifetime.”

Will Smith Funds Private Scientology School”

By Jana Winter (“Fox News”, May 30, 2008)

Calabasas, USA – Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have won critical acclaim for pumping nearly $1 million of their own money into a new private school that will offer organic meals, laptops for every student and an environment of learning based on “equity” and “respect” to create “citizens of the world.”

Here’s what the parents of the school’s pupils aren’t being told:

The New Village Academy plans to use some teaching methods developed within the Church of Scientology and has hired a team of Scientologists to put them into action.

Pinkett-Smith, who currently home-schools the couple’s two children, has long been talking about opening up a school where Jaden, 9, and Willow, 7, can continue to receive an education in line with their beliefs, friends told FOXNews.com.

So she and her actor husband are bankrolling the pre-kindergarten through sixth grade school in Calabasas, Calif., and they have selected a group of Scientologists, including the Director of Learning, Director of Qualifications and Artistic Director, to create that atmosphere.

But you won’t find references to the Church of Scientology on NVA’s Web site.

Ron Reynolds, executive director of the California Association of Private School Organizations, a consortium of the state’s private and religious schools, said it’s not the actual teaching of Scientology methods that raises a red flag for him. His concern is the school’s non-disclosure about its apparent religious affiliation.

“School should be forthright about its purposes. And if it’s a religious school, I don’t see why it wouldn’t wish to announce its religious affiliation loud and clear,” Reynolds said.

While the Church of Scientology is never mentioned explicitly, some of its teaching methods and terms are not hard to find on the site.

Under the glossary of educational theories, it lists “study technology,” an “educational model developed by L.R. Hubbard.” That’s L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology.

“[S]tudy technology focuses on three principles,” the curriculum reads. “First is the use of ‘mass’ to foster understanding — children need to see and feel what they are learning about,” reads the posting.

Scientology supporters say study technology can be beneficial because it is individualized and helps students overcome things they don’t understand by building one idea upon another. But critics say its concepts can be overly simplistic and brainwashes students with its covert religious instruction.

The site uses other Scientology terms, such as “spiraling” and “gradient,” to describe how students master a level of learning before moving on to the next.

Scientology already runs its own semi-official network of schools called Delphi schools, which employ Scientologists and use teaching techniques like study tech — just like NVA.

While there has been much speculation about the couple’s ties to Scientology, Smith has never publicly said he is a Scientologist.

Last month, Smith was quoted as saying, “I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions. And I respect all people and all paths.”

In December, interviewed on “Access Hollywood,” Smith said of his Scientology connection: “I was introduced [to] it by Tom [Cruise], and I’m a student of world religion. I was raised in a Baptist household, I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98 percent the same ideas of Scientology, 98 percent the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism.”

In 2004 the couple donated $20,000 to the Hollywood Education and Literacy Program (HELP), the basis for Scientology’s home-schooling system.

There was never any mention of faculty members’ Scientology backgrounds on the school’s Web site. As if underscoring its secretive nature, the school’s faculty member page on its Web site was suddenly taken down last week — but FOXNews.com learned at least three staff members have ties to Scientology.

Tasia Jones, NVA’s director of learning, graduated from the Scientologist Delphi School in Milton, Mass., according to her MySpace profile.

She was previously the Boston director of HELP, the same Scientology group to which Smith donated $20,000 in 2004, according to media reports.

On her Scientology Online blog Jones wrote, “I am currently teaching in a small private school. I have inspirations in the arts, particularly movies/films.”

On a page entitled “My Success,” Jones said, “My success in Scientology has been I have hope for myself and others that life can change for the better, all is not lost. I have a much more optimistic look than many of my peers.”

According to TruthAboutScientology.com, an online monitoring database that tracks the religion and its practitioners, Jones completed six Scientology courses between 2000 and 2006, including one entitled Hubbard Professional Metering Course. The official Scientology Web site wrote this about what skills are learned: “It is not possible to successfully do anything in life if one cannot control objects, situations and communication. This course teaches that skill.”

Sigrid Burket, NVA’s Director of Qualifications, is described on the school Web site’s faculty page as a “Youth Specialist” and sports coach. In 2004, Burket was listed as the director of a school that practiced Scientology beliefs — an official list compiled by the Church itself.

According to TruthAboutScientology, Burket has completed eight Scientology courses.

Sisu Raiken, the NVA’s Artistic Director and performance teacher, is also a Scientologist.

From her Scientology Web site she writes: “Without exaggerating, I can honestly say that Scientology has made EVERYTHING about my life seem better. I am more productive, making more income, have a happier family and doing EXACTLY what I want to do in life. When I first found out about Scientology I was a failed artist and about to give up. Today I am well-known in my field (performer and teacher), very well-respected and VERY happy.”

According to TruthAboutScientology, Raiken has completed 16 Scientology courses, including a course that teaches the evils of psychiatry and how to “detect and handle suppressive persons,” according to the official Scientology Web site.

Numerous e-mails and phone calls for comment on the school’s faculty by Smith’s representatives and NVA were not returned.

Reynolds said people are certain to be curious about what Smith’s new school has to offer, especially due to its name recognition. But he balks at why NVA wasn’t more upfront about the school’s Scientology connection.

“I fail to understand why you would hide what you are. How can parents make informed choices if they have to struggle to ascertain what the purpose and philosophy of the school is?” Reynolds said.

Google tries to restrict a christian pro-life group from adds on abortion

According to a report on One News Now Internet giant Google has bowed to litigation over an ad by a Christian pro-life group in England.

Spokesman Mike Judge of The Christian Institute in England says the problem developed when the Institute wanted to post an ad so that when people entered the word “abortion” in a search window, his organization’s website would be displayed to provide a Christian perspective on life — as opposed to abortion.
“But Google said ‘No, you can’t do that because you’re religious’ — and we were astonished,” shares Judge, “because there are plenty of non-religious sites that are allowed to advertise their views on the subject of abortion.”
Judge says the policy not only did not make sense, it was illegal — so they filed suit. “The 2006 Equality Act says if you’re providing services to people, you can’t say…[you’re] not going to provide that service…because [someone is] a Christian,” he explains.
According to the British pro-life activist, the case likely has an international impact. “Google has settled the matter out of court and has decided to change its policy,” he says, “not just so that the Christian Institute can advertise, but any religious organization anywhere in the world can now advertise their views on abortion [through Google].”

Oprah’s hypocritical statement

Oprah posts a message to her message boards about not using her show as a platform for any candidates…Though she has already publicly shown which candidate she supports…so in reality she already IS using her show and influence as a platform to support Obama….

Statement from Oprah Winfrey Posted on Sep 5, 2008 10:46 AM

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.” – Oprah Winfrey, September 5, 2008

14 out of 15 on page 1 alone criticized her statements…Pg 2 all criticize her…She should be criticized for her blatant hypocrisy, biast, and open biggotry…here are a few of those comments…

You mean the subject hasn’t even come up? You mean that some of the staff don’t want her on? BTW When you campaign for a person you ARE using your show politically because The Oprah show is why you have the clout to campaign. That being said… OBama ’08

If O didnt have a show, how could she throw all that dough to Mr. Experience zerO.

Oprah is a just another liberal media sheephearder. Hey, it is her show she can do as she wishes. SO wil my family and I. We are finished with the show, magazine, books. Until O can release some of her bias and get back to a objective dialog withthe people that made her rich and powerful, well, it’s boycott time.

Speaking of the bookclub…The Road bt Cormac McCarthy. Who would you rather have walking your son down the road, Oprah or Sarah Palin?

I think this statement is laughable. Oprah has been front and center with Obama throughout his campaign. Like it or not, Oprah IS The Oprah Show. If you don’t want to interview Palin, fine. Just be honest about your reasons.

I agree with Oprah 100%. No amount of Republican hate will change her mind. OPRAH IS RIGHT, she should not allow her show to be used be politicians in the middle of a campaign. If Ms. Wasilla does not want to be on the show once the election is over, she would have been exposed as an opportunist.

You have become such a major disappointment to me (and many of my girlfriends) over the past couple of years. I have been a huge fan for many of my years. But I disassociate myself with anything Oprah from now on. You truly irked me when you threw Obama to the media forefront for your own personal gain and to suffocate us with your political position. It comes across as your nauseating love for the man started just because he’s black. As an Illinois citizen, I will tell you this man has done crap as a lawmaker. Ooops, I am wrong. He did vote to NOT sustain the life of an aborted baby if it happens to survive it’s crucifixion…just let it lay there and flail and whimper til he/she dies…perfect! You have distanced yourself from Christianity and put your faith in New Age materials (I certainly hope I am not standing behind YOU on judgment day). You claim to have been turned off by the Christian faith since you heard a sermon that spoke of our God as a jealous God. You (as all of us) have so much to learn. Our God IS a jealous God. He wants our devotion, attention and service honoring His glory and not for worldly gain. If you would have just sought the pastor to ask, it would have been crystal clear to you. Then there was that idiotic video you took of you and Gail on your road trip. I knew I was watching worthless television when you didn’t even know how to pump gas…you should have been ashamed to proudly proclaim you didn’t know how to work a gas pump. I thought you had “meager” beginnings. Have you become such an elitist or as I like to say “snob” that you can’t even function with the most basic of all daily routines??? And now, you refuse to have Sarah Palin on…is her life story not as worthy as the black man’s? Are you afraid she will ultimately make a fool out of YOU with her intellect and passion and experiences??? Like I said…truly disappointed in you; but only a little surprised! And if you don’t post this opinion…that will speak volumes to me!!!

What a joke. I have lost all respect for Oprah. She could have had Sarah Palin on to not discuss policy, but just her life. This is weak Oprah. I don’t need the media censoring what I should know.

You have Obama on not once but TWICE during this current race, openly campaigned for him on your show and we now have another “historical” candidate in this race and for this one you REFUSE to have HER on!

How very disappointing, how sexist, how very partisan and political on your part!

I sure hope you and your staff change your mind but I won’t hold my breath.

All this decision does is reinforce my decision from a year or so ago to..

1) stop watching your show

2) stop “drinking the Oprah kool-aid” on all things in the world

3) stopped reading my Oprah magazine and when it was time to renew a year ago I did not. Each and every time I get a renewal form for it in the mail I not only not renew, I write a letter and give the exact reasons why I will NEVER renew the magazine!!!

How dissapointing you would choose YOUR personal political views on this race and YOUR candidate and not on this race as a whole….

This is very dissapointing Oprah. I was a huge fan of yours for the longest time. We had pictures taken with you after the Chicago Marathon a number of years back. Our group of girlfriends thought you were “the bomb”. I wish you had decided to stay out of the political spotlight. Why are so many celebrity types liberals? Some of my favorite singers and actors always come out for the democrats. It’s weird to me. And why does the media want Obama so badly? Oprah, you’ve had the support of women, strong conservative women who have helped to make you the huge success you’ve become. I think you owe us a show with Sarah Palin. And not after all this is over. It’s pertinent now. You know that. If your candidate is truly the best, then you have nothing to fear. But so many viewers will respect you more, if you give time to this interesting, strong, and captivating woman. That’s what you have always applauded. You’ve empowered so many of us over the years with that message. I hope you will rethink your decision to wait until after the election to invite her to the show. Thank you.

You have decided not to use your show? I love that the Drudge Report has this statement posted under a picture of Obama and Oprah chatting it up on the couch on the show!

I have lost faith in you Oprah over the years, and have become more and more convinced that she is unable to present a fair representation of all sides of any issue – let alone politics.

Seems Oprah has forgotten what it means to be American, and what a privilege it is to have a TV show that has the ability to encourage freedom of speech… Seems Oprah has her own agenda – and it is one dictated by her political views.

By denying a fair interview with both parties, Oprah, you have indeed made your show a political platform. Too late now!

This decision to facilitate your own agenda, your political beliefs, and deny free speech – you have convinced me that you are truly undeserving of my trust, time, any respect I had left, and or interest. This is the final nail in the coffin for me. And I have a feeling it will be for many Americans too.

I shall use my freedom of speech to tell you I will never watch your show again & I will not purchase any products you endorse…. Let alone a presidential candidate who is a manipulative, lying, narcissistic, inexperienced, spin master.

Harold Smith on Todd Bentley and Lakeland

It seems as though there are a lot of folks who have taken very personal positions over the collapse of the Todd Bentley / Ignited Church / Lakeland, Florida “revival” that was referred to in the last article “Compromise.” As a result, I have been labeled as insolent, reactionary, a spreader of gossip and rumor and “who are you to judge” because I made the statement in that article that Mr. Bentley had been removed from the ministry as a result of having admitted to having an affair outside of his marriage that I called adultery. So, please allow me this opportunity to clarify my statement and set the record straight. Also, please, read all the way through this article before forming your assessment.

It has been brought to my attention that, so far, there is no “proof” of any actual sexual dalliance on Mr. Bentley’s part, that it was only an “emotional involvement” that he confessed to. As a man, I have an acute understanding about what “emotional involvement” actually means. Yeshua said adultery is an attitude of heart (Matthew 5:28). Now, I did not write the Book – I just read it. Words mean things and I believe He meant those words.

There are some other issues that have surfaced since publishing that article I was unaware of at the time of writing that had I known of, I would have included. I did not know about them because, frankly, I didn’t really care enough about what was going on in Lakeland beyond here was, yet again, another place for believers to get “goose bumps.” Isn’t it interesting that we have all these “believers” running to and fro, to this event and to that prophet, to be healed and nowhere in scripture is it recorded that Yeshua ever healed or delivered any of the disciples? He EMPOWERED them. We look for His Power to be on exhibit externally when scripture says, for a believer, the very power that raised Yeshua from the grave dwells within US. (Romans 8:11).

Then this week, this email came to me by way of a woman who had spent some time as a member among the occult sect of Wicca: She writes: “I saw this man on God TV, (I do not usually watch this but wanted to see what all the fuss was about) and saw the Wicca ‘EMMA’ brand on the inside of his left arm. THAT is what turned me off. I guess if people have not been in the occult, they have no idea just what this means. EMMA is the king of Hell in Wicca. It appears as a seducing spirit, either male or female, whatever appeals to the person who works for Emma. It calls itself an ‘angelic’ spirit, which tells its host that they do not have to approach ‘God’ alone, they will go with you and plead your case for you. You know, Satan can look whichever way he wants – if you are with Emma, he will look like the Lord.”

Curious, I began some research and found just what this woman had revealed to be true. In fact, what else I found documented on video was Mr. Bentley, caught on camera, boasting of his personal “angel” he had been given by God whose name is EMMA that had come to him and led him into salvation (I was careful to document his own words) and that he regularly prays with this angel who shows him heavenly things. On top of this, after watching hours of video from the Lakeland meetings, I was struck with the realization that rarely, if ever (I could not remember a single instance), where the name of Jesus was spoken. The words, “God”, “heaven”, “angels” (lots and lots of angels), “spirit” were all used frequently – but not the name of Jesus.

The Good ShepherdFolks, this is not rocket science. The scripture says plainly to “try” the spirits (1John 4:1-3). The way they are tried is to hold them up to the standard of Truth which is the testimony of the Life of Yeshua (Revelation 19:10).

But that article and this one are not written about the subject of individual sin be it near-adultery or occultic-demon spirits, nor was it written to castigate Mr. Bentley personally (Romans 3:23). Having been divorced and witnessing firsthand the devastating and lasting effects it leaves on everybody’s lives, I am deeply saddened for him, his family and those who are affected by all of this and pray for God’s intervention, healing and restoration to encompass them.

So, let me make very clear – these words are addressing the foundational premises that brought us into this arena to begin with, i.e., compromise. These were compromises that were made, as a Body, to be tantalized by signs and wonders at the expense of integrity. character and Truth; and the compromises that were made from the embrace of the hierarchical structure of “apostolic authoritarianism” that developed, maintained and promoted the very platform Mr. Bentley stood upon which is not found in scripture. We are given no model in scripture for how this should work, except through love unfeigned (2Corinthians 6:1-10) – and that model was breached. What surfaces in overt behavior (darkness), on any level are just indicators of a more basic separation from Truth (light) at the root.

There were other indicators that compromise had taken place. When one moves in power without character it becomes like Paul describes in 1Corinthians 13, a sounding brass or clanging cymbal. It becomes jarring to the ear. If you look at any of this event in Florida on the YouTube videos, that is what you see and hear. Strange doctrine being preached, embracing encounters with other spirits, sick people getting kicked in the stomach, little old lady worshipping getting kicked in the face with a biker boot, etc. and the people laughing at the stories of this abhorrent violence in the audience. It is perverse and nauseating and in no way represents or extols this Person of grace and majesty and true Power spoken of in scripture that I have witnessed and come to know over the years. (James 3:13-18).

Throwing aside pre-conceptions of Who He Is does not mean mitigating His Nature to suit our purposes. Just because He can use rocks or donkeys does not mean He plans or intends to from the outset. He wants to use us, but He wants us to present Him in Truth. If it is Truth, it will be so all the way down the line with no excuses, no equivocation and no shadow of darkness – and it will apply equally to all involved. There IS a more excellent Way. This aspect of His Nature applies even more fully to those who would assume a mantle of responsibility within the Body because of the eternal effects their words and actions have on those who would follow them (James 3:1Matthew 23:13).

I lay the responsibility for this debacle squarely at the feet of the so-called “leaders” of this so-called “movement” and their willingness to turn a blind eye to the excesses that led to this and other places. They have all soiled their hands with wealth (when did Yeshua ever charge admission to hear HIM speak?) fame and renown (Philippians 2:7) and it has clouded their judgment – all of them. These men, even now (with the exception of only a few), are not decrying any of what has been mentioned above, but are searching for ways to gloss it over and keep it running so they might continue to profit from it – for great is the seduction of these spirits. The Hebrew word for “mammon” is finances – money (Luke 16:13).

Scripture tells us that Yeshua and the boys carried a money pouch (John 12:3-6). Now, they didn’t have jobs, so why would they need such? – except to receive donations. There is nothing wrong with receiving donations. The truth of what He is wanting us to see of Him, though, is that nowhere in scripture is it found that He ever took up a collection – He never “passed the plate”, didn’t take up an offering, He didn’t “pull” for money, didn’t ask for or let anyone know of His needs. He KNEW that if the Father was in it, He would fund it. Yeshua did not have to, nor is it recorded that He ever, made an appeal to the masses. He GAVE Himself and everything He had to the masses. He FED the poor. He didn’t use the money donated to Him to buy an upscale donkey to “further the ministry” and the Son of Man had no place to lay His Head (Matthew 8:20), so it wasn’t spent on His personal welfare. Consequently, if we do the same as His example, the Lord will move on this one and that one to come alongside as we have need without us ever having to “reach out”. I have seen it happen over and over – but this is a way of life that is completely foreign to what we have been taught and led to believe is the normal way of operation by these “power” ministries in complete contradiction to His Life.

Just A ToeSo, who am I to cry out and denounce these men and their antics? Nobody. I am nothing – I have no wealth, no position or prestige, I have no following, no cathedral to fill and I haven’t written any books. I am but a single cell on the little toe of His Body. But, if you think the little toe is of no importance, try ramming it on the bedpost when you get up in the middle of the night and see if it doesn’t bring the whole Body to a complete halt. There are many of us little cells that comprise this Body. The way to put a stop to all of this nonsense, this heresy that continues to crop up in our midst is to do as Yeshua did, to bear witness to the Truth by His Life (John 18:37) and to quit being a participant by encouraging them with our presence, making excuses for their errors and sending them our money – not for their sake, but for ours. A small flame will illuminate the whole room when it is dark. He is the Light of the World and He Lives in Us.

Having tasted of His Glory, and from a life-time of experientially knowing Him, I do not care to “settle” anymore for anything less than Truth in my personal life nor do I care to partake in the mechanics of men that would attempt to compromise by the illusion of that Glory the lifting up of some man or artificial architecture. Personally, I am here to extol the high standard He set with His Life for me to aspire to with my life so as to be, as He declared, a witness by my life, to Truth. I do not believe that bar to be out of reach. He is found in Truth. Not half-truth, faded truth or attempts at truth. He IS Truth. If I am alone in this endeavor, then let His Light begin within me. But, I am not alone. That is the confidence I have in Him for where sin and darkness abound – there grace abounds even more (Romans 5:19-21)

The Lord is allowing all of this in this moment to test our hearts. He is bringing decision and even judgment to the Body (1Peter 4:17) to see what we really want – signs and wonders at any price or Him and Him alone. If we choose Him, the signs and wonders will follow, but the presumption of man will be gone. If we choose signs and wonders, He will say He never knew us – because we didn’t know Him enough to BE Him. (Matthew 7:23).

Peter Wagner responds to Todd Bentley’s affair. Backpeddling?

To: Lakeland Outpouring Apostolic Team
From: C. Peter Wagner
Date: August 12, 2008
Subject: Todd Bentley’s Character Crisis

Most of you would be aware that the Lakeland Ledger broke the news publicly that Todd and Shona have decided to terminate their marriage. In Canada this requires a nine-month “separation” before official divorce proceedings can go into effect. I am quite upset by this development, and I know you will be also. I am now receiving a large amount of “I told you so!” email and I must say that my friends have a point. This has taken the lid off of a number of related character accusations against Todd that are now coming in which I might have dismissed previously, but no longer can do so off hand.

Let’s take some time to process this. Todd was officially, publicly aligned with the Revival Alliance, so the three of you {end times note: John Arnott, Bill Johnson & Che Ahn} should definitely make some kind of statement, probably sending it to Steve Strang. Let’s not sweep this under the rug with a “touch not God’s anointed” as has been done with so many similar issues in our morally soft charismatic environment.

Meanwhile, I called Chuck Pierce for help, and he sent me the letter I am attaching with this here. Chuck has some very encouraging insights for us.

An Update on Lakeland from Peter
August 25, 2008
I was in the San Francisco airport on my way to Singapore and Indonesia when the news of Todd Bentley’s separation from his wife became public on August 12. When I arrived back home last week, I found that Doris had received and replied to around 1,700 emails and the stack of correspondence on my desk was unbelievable. It took me the rest of the week to catch up!
During the week I was gone, a major watershed occurred regarding the Lakeland situation as most of you would know. We are now on a new playing field. Lakeland Outpouring I, in which Todd Bentley was the main figure, is now history. Lakeland Outpouring II, in which Stephen Strader of Ignited Church is the main figure, has begun.
The Present
It will sound surprising to some, but Lakeland II in Ignited Church, which you will remember was the original host church, is going very well. The big crowds and GOD TV, of course, are gone. Ignited Church seats around 700 in the main sanctuary and Stephen Strader reports that on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings they have to use their overflow room. It is comfortably filled on week nights. The morning training sessions continue with a couple hundred every day, and teams continue to move daily into the streets of Lakeland spreading the gospel. Percentage-wise the dramatic miracles and healings occur nightly with probably a higher percentage of salvations on a daily basis. Support from local pastors is improving considerably. The most interesting report is that every night some 30 percent are first-time attenders, meaning that people are still coming to Lakeland from the outside to experience Outpouring II.
Speaking of the public figure going down the tubes, Todd Bentley now carries the label of a liar and a deceiver. I’m sorry to mention it, but I felt personally deceived in the same way when Ted Haggard’s sin was exposed and he was immediately removed from ministry. In the Lakeland I case, I am elated at the way things are turning out. The Revival Alliance with whom Todd was aligned on June 23 has kicked into action with a vengeance. Ché Ahn and Bill Johnson, like me, were overseas when things broke, but John Arnott stepped up to the plate and moved in apostolically. It has since become clear that Todd’s Fresh Fire Board could not have handled the situation, Stephen Strader and Ignited Church could not, nor could any of his other close friends. Only the Revival Alliance could. I am delighted that they are not buying into typical charismatic soft morality, also called “greasy grace” or “don’t touch God’s anointed” or “mercy must triumph over judgment,” phrases that have been used on other similar occasions as convenient religious cop-out excuses. They’re proceeding in love, but it is tough love..
Since this is an update, I will share some of what I know about what is happening with Bentley, but not all because some things need more verification and it is up to discernment of Revival Alliance what and when this will be revealed. Suffice it to say that there is more than I am going to mention.
First of all, Todd has been removed from public ministry until further notice. He has resigned from the ministry he founded, Fresh Fire, so he is no longer a part of that board. It has become clear that he indulged in periodic drunkenness. He has no intention at the moment of reconciling with Shonna, nor does she with him. Their marriage has been torn for years by his emotional attachment with at least one other female whose physical contact went beyond hugging and kissing and holding hands. Enough said-maybe more details will be revealed later-but it was clearly immoral. All of this was skillfully concealed by lying and by swearing close associates who had observed his behavior to secrecy. Stephen Strader, for example, knew nothing of this before June 23. Apparently some of his board members did, but they did not have the ability to deal with it.
The Past
I hope this is the last time I will have to address the past. It is now history. But as history is written, I feel that I have some responsibility of helping to have history be written accurately, especially since I have turned out to be a lightening rod for a number of severe criticisms.
Most of you know this, but let me reiterate to keep it on record. Previous to around the middle of June, my interest in Lakeland was about a 2 on a scale of 1-10. Then I got a call from Stephen Strader, the host pastor who was a member of ICA, which I lead, with a passionate appeal for apostolic intervention because chaos and confusion had begin to invade the Outpouring I. Toward the end of the hour we were talking, I received one of my infrequent direct words from God: “Alignment!” Just one word, but I knew I had a divine command and responsibility.
Once I knew that God had assigned me to initiate some sort of apostolic intervention at Stephen’s side, I began praying and consulting with close colleagues. In less than two days I discovered that Todd Bentley had no formal, established apostolic alignment. I asked God how I should proceed, especially since I had no inclination to attempt an apostle-evangelist approach and expect that Bentley would submit to or even listen to what I had to say if I made an appointment with him in Lakeland. I felt that proper apostolic protocol would be for me to deal with one or more peer-level apostles to whom Todd had aligned apostolically. Since as yet he had no such alignment, I began asking God how such an alignment might come about. He directed me to my close friend, Ché Ahn, who himself is apostolically aligned with me and who also had been close to Bentley for years. Ché agreed that the best apostolic protocol would be for Todd to align with the Revival Alliance if he were willing. Ché called him and Bentley agreed to submit publicly to the Revival Alliance.
At this point some disagreements arose. I have already mentioned that I was consulting with several apostolic colleagues whom I trusted and whom I know trusted me. It is very necessary for us to understand exactly what the disagreement was about. It was about the most appropriate apostolic protocol for the occasion. After prayerfully listening to the different points of view with careful consideration of what was being said, the decision had to be mine. I believe that God’s word to me about “Alignment!” had to be directional. I concluded that the best protocol was to do the alignment first, then deal with the issues that had been raised. My other friends disagreed and urged me to deal with Todd’s problems first then do the alignment. I respected their point of view and I was very sorry that I had to follow God’s leading for me personally instead of taking their advice. It was not a comfortable decision.
Now let me address what was behind much of their disagreement with my apostolic protocol.
They were concerned that if I appeared on the platform with GOD TV, many viewers would interpret it as my personal endorsement of everything that was going on in Lakeland I, and since they were so closely associated with me, they would be implicated as well. This was a legitimate concern, and one I seriously wrestled with as I made my decision. If I went to Lakeland and presided over the alignment, some might well take it as an endorsement. It was a risk, I knew. Let me say personally that all my life I have been a risk-taker instead of a play-it-safe person, and I have taken many hits for it. As an example going to the jungles of Bolivia as a career field missionary when I was 25 with my wife and a one-year-old baby girl was a serious risk. Both that daughter and another who was born in the jungle without medical attention came close to losing their lives during those five years. And we were criticized for our decision to take the risk by many, including parents!
Closer to the Lakeland I situation, I have a private list of no fewer than 18 high-profile Christian leaders starting from the 1970s until Bentley for whom I took risks. For each one of them I took serious criticisms and in some cases personal hits even much more serious than I have received in this current case because I endorsed or partnered with or provided alignment for them. Some were typified as “crazy!” However, I can pretty much discern winners, although not always. My track record for the 18 is 72% emerged as real winners (you would know most of them), 17% ended up losers (including Bentley), and 11% indecisive. I’m sorry for the losers, but they prove I am not perfect. The point I am making is that I am no stranger to taking risks and living with the fallout.
One fallout from Lakeland I is that several have resigned from ICA and other organizations that I lead because they no longer want to be identified with me. Others are still upset.
I want it understood that I did not go to Lakeland on June 23 for Todd Bentley. I had never met him personally. I had no knowledge of and little interest in his ministry. I went because I received an apostolic plea to help bring order to the confusion and chaos that was sweeping through the body of Christ worldwide because of the television. I went strictly for the body of Christ at the invitation of the host pastor of the Outpouring I.
The final question is: Was it successful? Looking back, I praise God for using me and others to help bring order to confusion, which is one of the chief biblical tasks of an apostle. Stephen Strader, who has been keeping records, affirms that the evil that the prince of the power of the air had been subtly introducing into the Outpouring I started to be exposed and unraveled the day after the alignment, June 24!
Spiritually, this is very understandable. Just about every leader I knew had discerned that Lakeland I was a mixture of the godly and the ungodly. We were praying in one accord that the evil would be separated from the good. My take is that God had decided to answer these prayers and in order to facilitate His process, He assigned me and the Revival Alliance leaders and others who were with us to align Todd Bentley apostolically for the first time in his life. When we did this publicly, spiritual transactions took place in the invisible world that would not allow the enemy to maintain the veil of secrecy he had carefully placed over the Outpouring. The evil was exposed, Revival Alliance had the authority to deal with it, and the net result is that order is replacing chaos in the body of Christ.
In my section above on “The Present” I gave you some details. Believe me, they are only the tip of the iceberg as I just learned from a new phone call even as I was writing this paper. The proper apostolic structure, happily, is in place at the time of crisis!

The Future
It is now important to recognize that from now on we have a different playing field. Two separate things are going on. (1) The Revival Alliance is dealing with Todd Bentley and the fallout from his sin that has been and continues to be exposed. (2) I have told you previously about a group of 11 apostles that I have formed into the Lakeland Outpouring Apostolic Team. We no longer need to deal with Lakeland I and Bentley as such. However, we have a list of 24 serious issues that have emerged from that unpleasant experience which need to be thoroughly discussed with the conclusions circulated in the body of Christ. If you have seen Dutch Sheets’ recent “A Statement and Appeal Regarding Lakeland” you will get a glimpse of some of the things that we agree need to become standard operational beliefs and practices, particularly in our charismatically-inclined evangelical segment of the church.
It will take time, but our Apostolic Team will get to work on the 24 issues after some of this present dust settles, and we will be back to you!

You think the Lord KNEW what was going on with Todd Bentley all along? Why would God tell C. Peter Wagner “Alignment” knowing that Todd was involved in an immoral sin (and idolatry with following demonic angels such as Emma, Promise, Winds of Change, etc and not testing the spirits to see if they are of God) and others were helping keep it secret?

1 Cor 5:1 It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife.

1 Cor 5:2 You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst.

1 Cor 5:3 ¶ For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.

1 Cor 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,

1 Cor 5:5 {I have decided} to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Cor 5:6 ¶ Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump {of dough?}

1 Cor 5:7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are {in fact} unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.

1 Cor 5:8 Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

1 Cor 5:9 ¶ I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;

1 Cor 5:10 I {did} not at all {mean} with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.

1 Cor 5:11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler–not even to eat with such a one.

I don’t think these guys actually heard from God at all. They are trying to play politics. We have seen this stuff in our own country’s government officials when corruption was exposed. This is no different. Aligning Todd Bentley with these guys apostolically was not going to help Todd with the sin he was practicing much less the body of Christ. The bible tells us to expose the darkness not “align” ourselves with it.

Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;

Eph 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Eph 5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;

Eph 5:4 and {there must be no} filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Eph 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Eph 5:6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Eph 5:7 Therefore do not be partakers with them;

Eph 5:8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light

Eph 5:9 (for the fruit of the Light {consists} in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

Eph 5:10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.

Eph 5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;

Eph 5:12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

Eph 5:13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.

Eph 5:14 For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.”

Eph 5:15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,

Eph 5:16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

Eph 5:17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

God wouldn’t lead his people into such a thing. Nor would God be a part of tricking His people into believing that Todd Bentley was carrying the presence of God and imparting HIS anointing while secretly sinning. This is unholy. We cannot mix what is profane with the holy. Ministering in the Spirit is holy. To have the full measure of the Spirit like Jesus had requires godly character and denying the lusts of the flesh and all sin. Not distort God’s ways through aligning up with such people who are found as liars, deceivers, and immoral. Todd should have conceded when these men decided to come and support him in the fear of the Lord rather than deceive them. But these men who claim to be leaders are not walking in the Spirit otherwise God would have alerted them to what was going on with Todd Bentley for the safety of His flock. This should be a lesson for us all to get know God for ourselves and stop looking to men for spiritual experiences or to know God…That was the purpose of God giving us the Holy Spirit so we could know Him personally for our selves. To know the Truth and walk in His ways and not in the ways of deceived men. Everyone involved should be repenting to God and the Body of Christ for their horrible leadership and not being in the position they ought to be in as supposed “leaders of the church”  who didn’t protect the sheep but fed them to wolves and hirelings to be plundered and spiritually molested.

2 Chr 7:14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Its time to repent and turn to the Lord and hope he will be gracious and merciful to us and forgive us our tresspasses. Not play politics. Everyone who endorsed Todd Bentley are deceivers and they need to come clean and get right with God and stop hiding behind their positions, titles, reputations, and organizations. These things just distort the true image of the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one whose ways have been perverted by these same leaders. They want the Body of Christ to trust them and support them then they need to get honest and repent in sincerity and truth. Its not about them anymore. Its about being conformed to the image of Christ and rightly representing Him according to HIS standard and pattern. Not the “christ” they have created in their own image that manipulates and distorts the true character of our God in Jesus Christ. We don’t want their perverted christ. We want THE CHRIST who is THE TRUTH. You know the One who said “not my will but yours be done.” The One who gave his life as a ransom for many. Are any of you supposed “leaders” willing to give your life as a ransom for many? Are you willing to get out from under the alliances of deceived men. Men who pervert the ways of God to their own destruction. Men who only care about protecting their own investments rather than HIs investment, His people.
John 10:1 I ASSURE you, most solemnly I tell you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way (elsewhere, from some other quarter) is a thief and a robber.
John 10:2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
John 10:3 The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice {and} heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out.
John 10:4 When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
John 10:5 They will never [on any account] follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers {or} recognize their call.
John 10:6 Jesus used this parable (illustration) with them, but they did not understand what He was talking about.
John 10:7 So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I Myself am the Door for the sheep.
John 10:8 All others who came [as such] before Me are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not listen to {and} obey them.
John 10:9 I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved (will live). He will come in and he will go out [freely], and will find pasture.
John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have {and} enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
John 10:11 I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks {and} lays down His [own] life for the sheep.
John 10:12 But the hired servant (he who merely serves for wages) who is neither the shepherd nor the owner of the sheep, when he sees the wolf coming, deserts the flock and runs away. And the wolf chases {and} snatches them and scatters [the flock].
John 10:13 Now the hireling flees because he merely serves for wages and is not himself concerned about the sheep [cares nothing for them].
John 10:14 I am the Good Shepherd; and I know {and} recognize My own, and My own know {and} recognize Me–
John 10:15 Even as [truly as] the Father knows Me and I also know the Father–and I am giving My [very own] life {and} laying it down on behalf of the sheep.

Zeph Daniels Testimony from Satanic Mind Control and Ritual Abuse

Found the below post at http://www.dubroom.org/articles/412.htm

Zeph E Daniel was born into an elite family in Los Angeles, somewhere in the 1950’s. His family included members of the Bohemian Club. Zeph grew up around famous people, children around him were destined to become the movers and shakers in a large portion of (American) society.

However, in order to become “one of them”, become part of the system, you have to go through a certain kind of programming. Even further: you have to have a certain kind of mind-set. A mind-set that includes the practice of Satanic Rituals, which are just to bloody perverse to mention.

What happens if you are born in such a family, but you are simply unwilling to go along with the system? Even unable?

The answer can be found by listening to Zeph E Daniel’s life story. It is the story of a survivor, who lived to tell about the very mechanisms that keep Babylon System running.

He had to face imprisonment, torture, rape, mind control, survived a coma and other attempts at his life. Until this very day, he has to deal with the fruits of the evil that was done to him.

In a very open and profound interview with the host of the “Nowhere To Run” Radio Show on the American Revere Radio Network, it becomes clear that it is quite remarkable Zeph E Daniel even lived to tell.

Babylon System works on the blood of the sufferers. No, it’s not just horny pedophiles. There’s a complete mechanism behind it, a technical reason and working method. Satanic Rituals have exactly the same reason and purpose. what happens at places like Bohemian Grove, is nothing but a “power plant” to maintain the system.

The interview is revealing, as it exposes the true nature of what many of us just know as “the elite”. The “movers and shakers” turn out to be nothing but slaves themselves, slaves to supernatural entities we know as demons, aliens, fallen angels.

Obviously, the connection with these supernatural entities include UFO’s. After all, Babylon’s ultimate goal is to create a “New World Order”: a re-enactment of the “Days of Noah” or “Atlantis”.

A must-listen for everyone who is even remotely interested in the mechanisms behind Babylon System!
